This Thanksgiving, everyone should take a few moments to seriously consider what they are thankful for in their lives. No doubt the list will be highly personal and different for every person. Here are just a few things that most people can be grateful for this month.
- Family: What would we be without our families? Whether it is your spouse, your children, grandchildren, aunts, uncles or cousins, our families are what give us strength and our whole reason for living the life we do. Thank you, families!
- Health: We hear, “at least I have my health” quite a bit from people who have suffered other types of misfortunes. Staying fit and healthy is one of the best ways to get us through stressful times, and your personal health is a wonderful thing to be thankful for at Thanksgiving, and always.
- Jobs and professions: For many of us our jobs are what make us who we are and give us a purpose in life. Be thankful of your job or profession, and be mindful of the less fortunate who are looking to find their place in the world, too.
- Friends: Friends make us laugh, support us, and share with us the many joys of life. Thank you, friends.
- Home: A home is almost like a part of the family. Be sure to protect your home and keep it safe, just like you would a family member.
- A Thanksgiving feast, and food in general: What better display of the abundance and joy of life than the Thanksgiving feast. And the food we eat every day keeps us nourished, healthy and ready to face every day with energy and strength.
- Hobbies and interests: While some of us might feel like we live for our jobs, we all have outside hobbies and interests that keep our minds engaged and busy during our leisure time. Hobbies, interests and leisure of all kinds help us to be well-rounded and lead enjoyable lives.
- Pets: Whether you are a dog person, a cat person or a lizard person, pets bring immeasurable joy to our lives. Thank you, pets.
- The kindness of others: All of us rely on the kindness of others at times in our lives. We may not even realize it, but often a simple and unexpected gesture from someone will make a day brighter or lift our spirits when we need it.
- Those who serve: From the military to firefighters, police officers, teachers and more, we are served by others every day, even if we don’t realize it. Thank you to all of those who serve others in our community. You keep all of us safe and able to live the lives that we do.
